Terms

The deal between you and Auben, in plain words. Last changed 14 September 2026.

Using Auben

You need to be at least 16 to have an account. One person, one account. You are responsible for what happens under yours.

Nothing we ever sell buys a better place in the rankings. That is the rule the whole site is built on and we will not break it.

Your music

What you put up stays yours. By putting it up you give Auben a licence to store it, make the versions the site needs (a levelled full track, a 30 second clip, a waveform, link previews) and play it to listeners, for as long as it is on the site. Take it down and the licence ends, except for what has already been shared and cached.

You must own it or hold the rights to it, including any samples and any featured performer. If someone else's work is uploaded without their permission we will take it down, and after three upheld copyright notices an account can no longer upload. How that works is on the copyright page.

The vote

Tracks rise on what strangers do. Plays from an artist's friends and followers do not count toward promotion, and neither do plays from a track sent in a message. Anything built to game that, a ring of accounts, a script, a paid audience, gets the tracks involved removed and the accounts closed.

Listening events are the record of the vote. They are kept even if you leave, without your name.

Messages and conduct

Anyone can write to anyone, and anyone can block or report. Do not harass people, do not spam them and do not send anything you do not have the right to send. Moderators can pause your messaging, remove a track, or close an account, and every such action is recorded with a reason you can see.

Leaving

You can take down a track for good, or close your account, from your own pages. Closing gives you 14 days to change your mind; after that the account is deleted. We can close accounts that break these terms.

The small print

Auben is provided as it is. It is a young site and it will have faults; we do not promise it will always be available or that a track will reach any particular audience. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of it. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. We may change these terms; when we do the date at the top changes and anything material is announced on the site.
